VBrick Acts as 'Eye in the Sky' at Networld+Interop 2004
VBrick Systems Delivered High Quality Video Streams at this year’s Networking, Communications Event

LAS VEGAS – May 28, 2004 – VBrick Systems (www.VBrick.com), the leader in digital video solutions, once again played a key role at this year’s NetWorld+Interop (N+I) in Las Vegas, on May 11 through 13th.   VBrick Systems, recipient of the Best of Show award at N+I in 2003, continued its support of this renowned industry show in 2004 by providing reliable, robust video solutions, that enabled the delivery of DVD-quality video from the show floor via multicast over the N+I InteropNet Labs network.

“With the support of many vendors and volunteers, we were once again able to build the

world's premier Advanced Internetworking interoperability testbed and provide

free educational demonstrations and classes for everyone who attended N+I",” said Jim Martin,  InteropNet Labs (iLabs) Team Instructor and 12-year veteran of the Interop community. “VBrick Systems’ video appliances allowed us to show what modern networking technology can do.  We've always enjoyed utilizing VBricks because they are robust, easy to use, and exhibit a true network citizenship.”

This year, VBrick Systems’ unique MPEG appliances were used to demonstrate the power of IP multicasting over separate MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) VPNs (Virtual Private Networks).  A live, high quality stream originating at Monterey Bay, California was multicast from the University of California, Santa Cruz, over the Internet2 network to the Las Vegas Convention Center.  There, the stream was placed on the InteropNet and decoded by another VBrick at InteropNet iLab.   The high quality, full motion video was displayed on the large plasma monitors.  In addition, that same VBrick encoded a local video feed from a DVD player at 12 Mbps and multicast over the InteropNet to a second VBrick for decoding.  The successful delivery of this DVD quality video over both networks demonstrated the robustness of the MPLS based networks.

“Networld+Interop is a great opportunity for industry leaders to come together and showcase the future of networking technology,” said Rich Mavrogeanes, Founder and CTO of VBrick Systems.  “We are honored to again have been able to facilitate video networking at this event and prove to the N+I audience that VBrick is making easy, reliable, and affordable video a reality.”
