WALLINGFORD, CT – June 28, 2004 – VBrick Systems, www.VBrick.com, the premier provider of networked video solutions, today introduced the VBrick Security, Surveillance and Monitoring (VBSSM) appliance, a rugged, cost-effective MPEG-2 encoder designed specifically for surveillance and monitoring applications. Compact and able to withstand temperatures ranging from -20 to 70°C, the VBSSM provides reliable DVD-quality video, perfect for critical monitoring and surveillance where full-motion high quality video are required.
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has also selected VBrick Systems to deploy a streaming digital traffic monitoring system powered by its networked video appliances. The contract will enable the department to view MPEG-2 video from remote surveillance cameras linked to the VBSSM, across its existing network infrastructure to its

Smaller and lighter than most laptop computers, the VBSSM can be placed almost anywhere, including on top of telephone poles, in transportation vehicles or mounted in and around office buildings. It contains conformal-coated circuit boards, making it suitable for deployment in harsh environmental conditions. The VBSSM encoder accepts NTSC/PAL video from standard surveillance cameras, compresses it in real-time and transmits it digitally over an IP network. Video can be displayed on TV monitors using numerous MPEG-2 decoders, set top boxes and on PCs through desktop decoder software, such as VBrick’s StreamPlayer.
As with all VBrick products, the VBSSM features the highest level of reliability, making it ideally suited for security applications that must operate 24x7, such as homeland se
