Phonoscope Creates Ultimate IP Video Network with Support of VBrick's EtherneTV Solution
First-ever regional fiber optic network enables distribution of high-quality video to Texas Medical Center, schools and businesses throughout six counties in greater Houston area

WALLINGFORD, CT and HOUSTON, TX – November 9, 2004 – VBrick Systems, Inc. (www.VBrick.com), the leader in affordable video over IP network solutions, and Phonoscope (www.phonoscope.com), the developer of the nation’s largest privately-owned fiber optic Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), today announced a new service on its 10 Gigabit fiber backbone to deliver a range of advanced IP video solutions to the Texas Medical Center, K-12 schools and universities, businesses, and government agencies in the greater Houston area.

 

The partnership will allow these Houston-area entities to easily leverage video as a mission-critical communications tool. With an extensive fiber optic network totaling more than 7,500 miles, Phonoscope plans to achieve its vision of offering voice, video and data services through the deployment of VBrick’s award winning EtherneTV solution. EtherneTV provides a high-quality, cost-effective platform allowing Phonoscope to provide live video and on-demand services to viewers located throughout the city.

 

Phonoscope has aligned with more than 23 school districts to deliver 14 channels of MPEG video to desktops around the city. These channels distribute educational content as well as distance-learning courses designed to increase student’s access to classroom learning opportunities and improve teacher training. Phonoscope is also providing more than 2,000 business customers and the world renowned Texas Medical Center, with access to 31 channels of MPEG encoded business-related content, streamed to the desktop or boardroom.
