The Alliance of Community Media (ACM) 2005 International Conference & Trade Show will feature a “LiveDive” that enables conference attendees to view real-time video streams of a Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary underwater exploration. VBrick’s VB4300 and VB5300 networked video appliances will provide conference attendees with dynamic video streams from the depths of Monterey Bay. An underwater cameraman will transmit real-time video of diver Ernie Kovac, from Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, who will provide educational insight into the underwater ecosystem, and communicate with LiveDive attendees via a wireless microphone. The LiveDive audience will also have the opportunity to direct a second underwater camera in a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).
VBrick will stream DVD-quality MPEG-2 video to two large-screen projectors, providing attendees with “front row” access to the underwater exploration. The LiveDive demonstrates the reliability and performance of networked video for conference attendees, which include local broadcast community groups, public school officials, and college and university leaders. In addition to distance learning initiatives such as the LiveDive, cable television stations nationally, including the city of Monterey, are using VBrick’s networked video appliances to broadcast important news and information to cable audiences in their communities and beyond.
In addition to diver Ernie Kovac, LiveDive presenters will share insight into the Monterey Bay community, the Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration’s discovery initiatives, and the role of networked video across a myriad of applications. Presenters include:
