The VBrick Video Portal (ViP) is software designed for installation on HP ProCurve ONE zL module to access live video streams and on-demand Windows Media® (WM) video assets. Tightly integrated with the HP ProCurve ONE, the ViP delivers live video from VBrick WM appliances and provides access to stored video assets onboard the ProCurve One’s internal storage or via any web or Windows Media streaming server. The user interface also provides the ability to instantly play available media assets using any Windows® PC via an IE browser.

The ViP has the capability to generate an automated, live channel guide and navigate through video-on-demand assets. Integration with the HP ProCurve ONE maximizes the capabilities of HP ProCurve routers and switches without requiring additional rack space.

Capabilities:

Live Video – The ViP automatically detects live video from any number of VBrick Windows Media (WM) appliances. The VBrick appliances may be on the same network as the ViP or they may be located anywhere in the world via an Internet connection. The ViP will detect the live video and present it for immediate selection and viewing.

Stored Video – The ViP will display a list of stored video which may be uploaded and delivered directly from the ViP’s internal hard disk via progressive download, or from virtually any web server or WM streaming server.

Video Podcasting – The VIP can host and display a list of video Podcasts. Podcasts are uploaded to the ViP via the “Podcast Transcoder” software or using third party tools. A Podcast subscriber simply enters the provided URL in iTunes or a similar viewer to view.

Priority Alert – When there is a priority event or emergency, the ViP can be used to automatically open a selected live or stored video on everyone’s desktop (requires client applet).

Video Simple Syndication (VSS) – Converts live video “announcements” into RSS feeds for display in the most popular portals such as iGoogle, My Yahoo, and Facebook.
