The Rev Root Account : Control Panel Functions : Manage Runtime Services with the Control Panel

Manage Runtime Services with the Control Panel
The Control Panel can only be accessed through the root user and is used to allocate runtime services resources across all the nodes of your Rev system. Be very careful when modifying the runtime services resources, as modifications have performance impacts and may cause your Rev system to behave sub-optimally. If you need more information or help, contact VBrick Support Services.
*To access the Runtime Services panel:
1. Log in with the root user that was created when the Rev system was initially configured.
2. Navigate to Admin > Control Panel.
3. The nodes on your Rev system and their status will be listed under the Node section as seen below. Each service and its availability will also be detailed. For example, in the image below, transcoding is only functioning on the second node.
The runtime services include:
Name
Description
Transcoding
If enabled, transcoding resources will be directed to the node.
LDAP
If enabled, LDAP resources will be directed to the node.
Core
Core resources that will be available if enabled include network context except for users log on, log off, users API and user project. Runtime context, portal service, push service, uploads service and downloads service.
4. Use the check boxes to enable or disable the runtime service and click the Apply All button to save your selections.

Note: Keep in mind that these configurations are for technical resource allocations and do not change end user functionality. For example, disabling transcoding on a node does not disable Rev’s ability to transcode or remove the Transcoding menu from the admin screens. Rather, when a file needs to be transcoded, only servers which have “transcoding” enabled will be used to transcode the file. The intent is to allow for designating specific resources for resource intensive tasks.
Further, keep in mind that each service must be running on at least one node.
